The story of our atelier ~ Waji Bunnosato Studio ~

This is where we manufacture

This is a historic old house that is over 100 years old.

The atmosphere and ambiance of this old building

It inspires creativity

At night, craftsmen who have finished their work gather

We will share our latest news and exchange techniques.
The challenge of new manufacturing

A place where we can share ideas and inspire each other

Celebrate your friend's birthday

Meals prepared by members who are good at cooking

And a little bit of alcohol...

Yes, this is our atelier.

| The workshop is located in Fuminosato, Abeno Ward

This place is located in the south of Osaka

Nowadays, Abeno has a new symbol called "Abeno Harukas."

The area called Bunnosato

There are still many Showa-era tenement houses and old houses standing here.

It's a very historic and charming town.

In the Fuminosato shopping district, just a short walk from the station,
There are old delicatessens, takoyaki shops,
Butcher shop (the fried food here is excellent! There's a generous old man there)
etc.

Stylish Italian cuisine,
And there's a store called Irusu Bunko...

We found an old house in this area and set up our studio there.

| An old house that is over 100 years old

First of all, we wanted to create a space where we could store the tools and sewing machines that are the lifeblood of craftsmen.

Renovation of the whole

New kitchen and bathroom for a comfortable environment

The charming courtyard and ceiling beams remain intact, leaving the good old architecture intact.

The renovation is over

Carrying in heavy sewing machines and equipment

And now it's 2016

The young craftsmen started their manufacturing careers in this village.

In this historic old house

Our history as waji is also beginning to be engraved.

| Numerous works born here

I spent my days sleeping and living here, devoting myself to making things day and night.

I sometimes slipped down the steep stairs typical of old houses.

Even in the hot summer, with no air conditioning and sweating, I continued sewing.

I continued designing even during the cold winter when I was freezing from the drafts.

Even though I failed again and again, I never gave up and kept trying.

~~~
Five years have passed since then...
~~~

Countless works have been created here through repeated trial and error.

Antique Door Glart

Asymmetrical tote bag

Scissor case Hakama apron

To be honest, it's been a lot of hardship.

But everyone who visits here says the same thing:

"Waji sounds like fun."

| A place where artists can gather and interact

Now it is open to the public as a place for interaction, with artisans and designers from other brands, as well as photographers and artists, frequently stopping by to share their techniques and ideas, and it has evolved into a very stimulating space.

Members with the same ambitions for manufacturing naturally gather together and develop relationships that allow them to work together.

It is also sometimes used as a tour course for bag vocational schools.

It is also a place to propose new ways of working.

Our workshop continues to evolve

But there are some things that haven't changed since then

it is

"I love making things"

Yes, this is our atelier.

From now on, WAJI will

Continuing to create in a peaceful environment

We continue to expand our network
